Aquaterra was founded in February of 2002 to provide a platform from which technical experts could practice their profession in an environment that was conducive to providing clients with unsurpassed service and value. The founders, having come from larger more vertically managed companies, were intent on establishing an environment that could foster a high level of client service, yet do so in a way that empowered employees and instilled an entrepreneurial spirit. Time would tell if the idea was a realistic endeavor or just a pie in the sky business venture.
The company began by focusing on solid waste management and environmental engineering and consulting, the bread and butter services of the founders. Setting up shop in Overland Park, Kansas, the natural progression for the company was to work for clients, both public and private, in Kansas and Missouri. After finding tremendous success in its first year, growing to 10 employees and gaining numerous clients, the company opened its second office just east of the St. Louis Arch in Fairview Heights, Illinois. As time has progressed, the company has continued to add new employees to the team while opening additional offices across the middle part of the United States.
Aquaterra’s philosophy of hiring the best and the brightest and immersing them in our entrepreneurial culture has certainly paid dividends as all of the company’s growth to date has been organic. In addition to looking for key acquisitions and hires, the “no idea is a dumb idea” approach will continue to carry Aquaterra into the future.
Today, even through the recent economic downturn, the company continues to experience strong growth. We’ve continued to expand our technical expertise and service offerings as well as our geographic reach. Our team of nearly 90 employees are located across 10 offices to provide a local presence to much of our loyal client base.
