To help evaluate your facility’s current compliance status with construction and operating permits as well as federal and state regulations, Aquaterra can perform audits and assessments of your facility’s records and operation. As part of this process, Aquaterra staff will review your site’s current permits to identify emission and operating limits, as well as record keeping and reporting requirements, and compare these conditions to your current documents. We will also observe the operation of your control equipment to evaluate whether operational limits specified in your permits are currently met. Based on our observations, a report will be generated which identifies potential compliance issues as well as providing suggestions for improvements to your record keeping or reporting process.
On March 3, 2010, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) finalized the National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAP) for existing compression-ignition reciprocating internal combustion engines (CI RICE). The newly amended rule, known as the RICE NESHAP, affects owners of stationary RICE in some manner although the requirements are dependent on engine fuel, size, and use. Aquaterra worked with an animal health pharmaceutical company to determine rule applicability to manufacturing operations in Illinois, Nebraska, and North Carolina. As part of this effort, an Aquaterra project engineer performed an on-site visit or worked directly with plant personnel to collect the necessary data for the applicability determination such as the age of each stationary RICE at the facility, the size of the unit, the fuel that each engine combusts, and for what use each engine is employed. Aquaterra subsequently performed an applicability determination for each RICE and a final summary report was issued to present the information that was obtained and evaluated as part of the determination process and to delineate each compliance activity and pertinent deadline applicable to each stationary RICE. Initial notifications, if required, were prepared by Aquaterra for submittal by the facility to the applicable regulatory authority.
